'Tis the season! Towns all over the Greater Danbury area are planning their annual tree lighting and holiday celebrations to kick off the holiday season. We've rounded up several in the area below to make it easy to find a celebration to include in your annual family holiday traditions.
Bethel Annual WinterFest & Tree Lighting Ceremony, Nov. 24
Enjoy the beginning of the holiday season in downtown Bethel on Friday, November 24th from 1pm-6pm. Activities throughout the downtown end with the tree lighting on the Municipal Center Lawn (new location this year!). Horse drawn wagon rides, soups, s'mores, hot cocoa, shopping, music, caroling, tree lighting, and more.
Ridgefield Tree Lighting, Nov. 24
The most-cherished of Ridgefield’s holiday celebrations. Kick off the holiday season at 6:30PM for the Annual Tree Lighting, 17K+ lights throughout the historic downtown Main St., songs plus Santa and Mrs. Claus arrival via fire truck.
New Milford Tree Lighting Ceremony, Town Green, Nov. 25
Highlights of the evening will include the lighting of the Christmas trees on the Green and visits with Santa. Festivities start at 5:30pm.
New Fairfield Santa's Workshop, Holiday Light Parade & Tree Lighting, Nov. 25
The holiday light parade starts at 5:15pm with Tree Lighting at 5:45pm.12:30-3:30: Santa will be available for photos at his workshop on the library from 12:30-3:30 (pre-register). Join Santa after the parade for the tree lighting and carols at Memorial Field. Refreshments will be served after the parade. Rain/Snow Date: Nov. 26th.
Stew Leonard's 29th Annual Tree Lighting in Danbury, Nov. 30
Join Santa at the Danbury store’s 29th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting celebration! The festivities begin at 4pm and the countdown to the tree lighting begins at 5pm
Newtown Ram Pasture Tree Lighting,
Annual tree lighting at Ram Pasture at 6:30pm. Stroll down Main St. via Elm Drive to view the luminaria, then join the festivities of singing, dancing and enjoying a visit from Santa (on stage; not available for sitting visits). Bring a letter for Santa to put in the special North Pole mailbox..
Celebrate the winter season on the town green. The Georgetown Lions will be handing out hot chocolate. Festivities start at 3:30pm.
Sandy Hook Tree Lighting, Dec. 2
Festivities will begin at 4:00 p.m. Meet Santa from 5:00-6:00 pm, Karaoke, and caroling, pause at 6:00 p.m. for the lighting of the tree, continue into the evening with more caroling, and also enjoy area shops and restaurants open for business.
Brookfield Holiday Tree Lighting, DATE TBD
Ring in the season with the holiday tree lighting at Brookfield Town Hall. The festivities begin at 5pm.
Danbury Light the Lights Winter Festival, Dec. 2
Downtown Danbury will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland, with fun festivities for all ages on CityCenter Green. Vendor shopping, a countdown to light the 40' tree and Firetruck Parade delivering Santa to the green. 3pm-7pm.
Hawleyville Tree Lighting, Dec. 10
The Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company will host its 13th Annual Tree Lighting on Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 5:30 to 6:30pm. The Dance Etc. Dancers will perform while merrymakers await the countdown to light up the season and hope for a visit from jolly old Saint Nick. The good folks at the Hawleyville Post Office will provide cookies and hot chocolate, and free pizzas will be served courtesy of Papa Al's restaurant.
