Summer Creative Writing Programs with Muse Squad

Programs in New Milford and Ridgefield

By Meghan Friedland, Publisher/Editor, Macaroni KID Greater Danbury, CT March 28, 2024

If your child loves reading books, enjoys storytelling and writing their own stories, then they may also enjoy a summer writing program that will enable them to explore their passion and creativity in a casual and fun environment among their peers. Muse Squad -- a new writing program with locations in New Milford and Ridgefield -- is a gathering place where a group of young writers can delve into their craft, learn literary devices, acquire skills on how to flesh out a story, become competent at character development, master dialogue, support and inspire each other. Your child can experience mastery-based learning but without grades!

SUMMER 2024 PROGRAM

The Anthologies is a separate series of handbooks that combines music history and studying song lyrics to inspire creative writing. During a week-long summer course, each 2-hour gathering navigates the world of one of Joni Michell’s songs. Her soulful voice and the clarity in her poetry will guide you to produce your own profound metaphors, exploring universal themes, with an emphasis on rhythm and emotion. The class concludes with a Final Reading and reception.
