REVIEW: Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate & Princess Adventure

By Meghan Friedland, Editor/Publisher Macaroni Kid Danbury-Bethel-Ridgefield April 24, 2014
Last night I had the opportunity to take my family to see the Disney Junior Live on Tour Pirates & Princess Adventure at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport. Remaining shows are today, Saturday, April 26 at 11am, 3pm and 7pm  and Sunday, April 27 at 1pm and 4pm.

If you have a little one who is a fan of Sofia the First or Jake and the Never Land Pirates, then this show is a must-see! My little Sofia fans were mesmerized. Dressed head to toe in their Sofia dress and purple shoes, the girls squealed when they heard the opening theme song from the show fill the entire arena.

My 20-month old's eyes lit up when she saw her favorite princess come out on the stage and begin to sing and she pointed to her saying, "Sofia! There's Sofia!". In true Disney style, the costumes were absolutely perfect and the casting was phenominal. The actors looked the part! Even their voices were exactly those from the show since they lip synced. There were familiar songs like, "Bigger is Better" (sung by Amber) and familiar favorite characters like Amber, James, Baileywick and the three Fairy Godmothers - Flora, Fauna and Merriweather.

The family is preparing for a royal celebration. As in the episodes, Sofia learns the true meaning of being a princess and a friend, and has a little help finding a perfect gift for the celebration from a special guest...Cinderella! My girls gasped when they saw her!

After the intermission,
the audience is swept away to Never Land where Jake and his swashbuckling friends Izzy and Cubby, with a little help from Peter Pan, battle Captain Hook to unlock treasure hidden inside a mysterious volcano. Jake discovers what it takes to be a true hero...and friend.

The show is presented with the attention to quality and detail that we've all come to expect from a Disney production. The music, effects and action scenes were well produced, cleverly utilizing a computer screen as an interactive back-drop for various scenes. This show will definitely hold your child's interest -  my 20-month-old did not move from my lap the entire time.

Arrive 10 minutes early to catch the Doc McStuffins pre-show! Plus, kids will enjoy seeing Mickey and Minnie as the hosts in the beginning, intermission and end of the show.
