This information is crucial to good health! Here are a few more fast facts about the dangers of most personal care products:
* Parabens. Studies have shown that 18 out of 20 breast cancer cells are connected to parabens. Parabens are a harmful preservative and are in most personal care products. They will usually be listed as one of the last ingredients and will have a prefix in front of them, check your hand lotions, hand soaps, shampoos, even Cetaphil and Aquaphor for these!
*SLS or sodium laurel sulphate is a foaming agent and found in most hygiene products. It has been linked to several cancers, early onset puberty, menopause and infertility. Check shampoos!
* Animal bi-products/hormones. Most cosmetic and skincare companies will use a cheap filler of animal fat. The animal bi-products are boiled and the excess fat is skimmed off the top. This creamy filler is used in many cosmetics and skin care, and it contains hormone altering chemicals and toxins.
* Chemical dyes and fragrances. Check your bottles for these because they are synthetic and most people who say they have sensitive skin are actually sensitive to these chemical fragrances. You want to use products that have essential oils and botanical fragrance.
* Mineral Oil. While mineral oil is not linked to cancer, it is an occlusive agent. It is a refined crude oil, and its molecular make up is too large for your pores to absorb. Therefore it is like wrapping your skin in plastic wrap! None of the toxins can escape, and no good nutrients can get in. Your skin is your largest organ and its job is to excrete toxins, which can cause illness and disease.
