At the Bridgeport Arena through Sunday, January 6

This evening I took my family to see Disney On Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport. What a great show! I knew my 3 1/2 year old daughter would be on the edge of her seat, but never in a million years did I think my 4 1/2 MONTH old would be too! With the show starting at 7PM, I had initially thought I wouldn't be able to go because it was too late and too far of a drive in the dark for her. But I didn't want to miss an opportunity to have a fun, family night out. So, I grabbed her little, musical, light-up Fisher Price aquarium, squeezed in the backseat between the two kids' carseats and held the aquarium so she could see it the entire ride. I'd imagined that I would have had to spend a considerable portion of the show out in the concession area with her, but instead she was perfectly content being held upright, bouncing on my lap, facing the ice. This baby was drawn in by the lights, music and the colorful costumes just as much as any other kid in the arena. I looked around and bet that she was probably the only infant in attendance enjoying a show on a freezing cold Friday night, well past her bedtime. A night for the memory book for sure!

The show features stories and characters from familiar Disney movies including Cars, The Little Mermaid and Tinkerbell (all 3 appearing in the first half) as well as Toy Story (the entire 2nd half). These stories were artistically expressed through the combination of colorful, detailed costumes and clever, yet simple set changes. I was also impressed with how the skaters brought the characters to life and remained in character at all times (in true Disney style) while athletically incorporating jumps, twirls and dance sure to thrill any figure skating fan.

Disney on Ice presents Worlds of Fantasy is sure to delight fans of all ages. It is playing at Webster Bank Arena, 600 Main Street, Bridgeport through Sunday, January 6th. There are three shows on Saturday and two on Sunday. Check the website for times and ticket prices. Parking costs $10 extra.
