Eggland's Best Goes Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 7, 2011

For as long as I have been responsible for buying my own groceries, I’ve purchased Eggland’s Best eggs. My husband jokes it’s because they are a major sponsor of my favorite TV game show, “Wheel of Fortune”, though I know of course that it is because of their superior taste and nutritional benefits vs. ordinary eggs. I grew up eating eggs – whether scrambled, hard-boiled or sunny side up (a “dippy egg” as my grandmother used to call it – since we’d pierce the yolk with our fork and dip our toast in it). Even when everyone seemed to question whether eating eggs was healthy, I continued to eat them, at least a few times a week. So it’s not a surprise that my 2 ½ year old daughter also loves eggs (she’s only taken to scrambled eggs so far) and in fact, they have become part of our shared morning routine. We sit down to have our eggs together and talk about all the fun things that we have planned for the day and week.

When I heard about Eggland’s Best going Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I was eager to buy the special package to show my support, as this disease is near and dear to my heart. I lost a cousin to Breast Cancer at a very young age several years ago and ever since have always found ways to donate to the cause or spread awareness about it.  Through November 15, 2011, Eggland’s Best will feature the signature “EB” stamp with the Susan G. Komen Running Ribbon on all varieties of EB farm fresh eggs. They will also be donating $50,000 to support Susan G. Komen in their pledge to end breast cancer forever.
