By Meghan Friedland, Editor/Publisher Macaroni Kid Danbury-Bethel-Ridgefield, CT October 14, 2016

SparkArts in Bethel (137 Greenwood Ave) has a new, after-school enrichment program for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade. The Club Spark program runs weekdays 3PM-6:30PM and will give kids a taste of all art forms, including visual arts, theater arts, movement, music and even circus skills! And because SparkArts is a designated bus stop for Berry, Rockwell and Johnson elementary schools, it makes getting your kids to the program that much easier. Also, if school is dismissed early, kids can go right to SparkArts at no additional charge.

When your child arrives at SparkArts they will have snack and homework time, where the staff is available to assist and encourage students with their academics. Afterwards, students will be invited to dive into the arts! Activities include clay, painting, dancing, circus skills, theatre, improv, music and more, even an occasional field trip!

Pricing is $31 per day (2-day minimum) for 3PM-6:30PM.

Both of my daughters had the opportunity to take a week of camp this past summer at SparkArts and I can't say enough about the quality of their programs. My seven-year-old took an acting class and absolutely loved it. She learned so much in just five days! One of the many things she learned is how to construct a play by mapping out the various elements: setting, scene, characters, problem/resolution. One day I went into her room and saw sheets of paper taped to her wall. She mapped out an entire play for her toy horses using the method she learned in camp! It has also been wonderful to see how the program enhanced her confidence overall.

My four-year-old attended the Frozen-themed dance camp and had a wonderful time. She loved dressing up each day and getting to sing, dance and act out all of her favorite songs from the movie. The staff did an excellent job in keeping the kids engaged each day, balancing the dancing/singing with quiet time doing various Frozen-themed art activities. This camp was her first experience learning a dance routine; I was so impressed how much she and all of the other kids grasped in just one week. My daughter still talks about Frozen camp and often plays pretend that she is there, dressing up and performing for us.

You will not be disappointed at SparkArts - check them out online or stop by the studio on Greenwood Avenue and see for yourself what all the fun is about!
