GUIDE: Holiday Light Displays

For the last few years, at some point during the holiday season we grab the kids after dinner, get them into jammies and hop in the car to venture out and find some amazing holiday light displays. Is this a tradition for your family, too? Here's a helpful guide to several displays in our area and a bit beyond for those of you willing to take a bit of a further drive. Many take donations for charity (monetary or canned food) so plan ahead.

NOTE: Some of these were submitted by readers and fans and we haven't yet had the opportunity to drive to all of them to confirm if they are happening again this year. Please leave a comment if you either learn that a display is no longer there or if you find a new one to add to our list!!

DANBURY

So my wife talked me out of going to a Lake Compounce lights outing and suggested we do a "lights tour" that follows the spots listed for Danbury and Ridgefield. For anyone loading the kids in the car expecting to see something spectacular in every spot, you'll be disappointed. The only spot worth going to is 91 Hilltop Manner. Downtown Danbury, ho hum. Ridgefield, yeah it's nice but if you live in Bethel or Danbury it's not worth a whole trip down there. Pacheco house? Not sure where the Pacheco's live but it's not at 45 Belmont Circle. Their neighbors around the corner have some nice lights but again, not worth the trip. Bottom line, if you want to be wowed, just make some hot chocolate in travel cups, go to 91 Hilltop, park the car, get out, and enjoy for 20 minutes or so. Off to Lake Compounce next weekend. Hope this helps!

By the way, the lights at 91 Hilltop Manner definitely go on before 8pm. We got there at 7:20 and they were rocking to their own radio station! Also, one final note. There was not one light lit up on Douglas Lane in New Fairfield. We even dubbed it "Dark Alley" before asking a nearby resident if they've heard of it. His reply was a confused look followed by a series of complicated directions to something 5 miles away where a wedding was taking place. Merry Christmas. Two Words is all you need to know...Hilltop Manner

Paul, thank you very much for your feedback. We've updated the list to remove both Douglas Lane & Belmont Circle. They were on lists from past years so perhaps the residents that used to do them moved or no longer do them.
