Want to spend some time on the ice? We've compiled a list of local (and a few regional) places to ice-skate including both indoor and outdoor options. Information below is what was available at the time of publishing, so we encourage you to call ahead to confirm availability and status.

INDOOR RINKS

Danbury Arena

Highlights:  

  • Indoor arena open year-round for pre-booked ice times as well as for walk-ins  
  • Skaters can book times online for public skate, figure skating, speed skating, sticks & pucks and DJ Skate 
  • Public Skate: Walk-in & Online Price: $17 Per Session; Skate Rentals: $5 Per Rental
  • DJ Skate: Walk-in & Online Price: $17 Per Session; Online Pass with 5 Credit Arcade Card Price: $20 Per Session; Skate Rentals: $5 Per Rental
  • Waivers required to skate; state-of-the art arcade and a cafe.

Winter Garden Arena

  • Indoor arena open during winter and spring
  • Public Skate Time: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 12:00-1:15 PM; Friday Disco 9:00-10:00PM; Sunday Public 3:00-4:20PM
  • Tickets available at the door
  • Public Skate: $15 per adult; $10 per child age 12 and under; Skate Rental $5; Disco Skate: $15 entry fee plus $5 skate rental
  • Sticks & Pucks: $15 per person; hockey helmets required; full equipment suggested

The Rinks at Shelton

Highlights:  

  • Hosts the world's only double-decker NHL ice rinks!
  • Sessions available for public skating, freestyle, pick-up hockey and sticks & pucks; several other amenities at the Sports Center of CT complex e.g. arcade, bowling, mini golf, virtual reality and more.
  • Session hours vary; check website; advanced reservations recommended online 
  • Public Skate: $13 per adult; $11 per child under age 12; Skate Rental $8.50

OUTDOOR RINKS

Redding Community Center

  • Outdoor rink for Redding residents and their guests. Always call before heading to the rink to confirm if it's open. See RULES here.
  • The Seasonal Ice Rink is usually located in the parking lot near RCC Field 2 (to the right as you pull into the parking lot).

Hemlock Lake at Mountain Lakes Park

Gould Manor Park & Owen Fish Park

  • Outdoor ponds open to ice-skating when the Fairfield Parks Dept. posts that it is safe to skate.
  • The Parks Department measures the thickness of the ice daily

Pickett's Pond at Osbornedale State Park

  • Skating is popular with night lighting and attractive warm-up hut provided.  
  • The Division of State Parks and Public Outreach tests for safe ice

Simsbury Farms Ice Rink

  • This covered, outdoor rink is open weekdays Nov. 13 - March 12
  • Operating hours: Mon/Wed/Fri 10am-12pm, Tue/Thurs: 12-2pm; Sun: 2:15-4:15PM
  • Cost is $4 on weekdays/$7 on Sundays for non-residents plus $5 skate rental
  • No hockey sticks or playing allowed

Bear Mountain Ice Rink

Highlights:  

  • Open through March 6, 2022 weather permitting (check web site daily) 
  • 90 minute Sessions: Fri/Sat every two hours 10AM-8PM; Sundays every two hours 10AM-6PM, but call ahead or check the web site as these hours can change.
  • NO pre-registration; all session ticket sales in person at the window one hour prior to session
  • Admission is $5 (for all who enter building); Kids under 4 are FREE; Skate rental $10; Parking is $10 on weekends and holidays
  • Refreshments available via vending machines
