GUIDE: Local Spray Parks and Beaches

Looking to take the kids somewhere to cool off but don't want to drive to the shoreline beaches? Here's a list of some of our favorite spray parks and lake/pond swimming spots in the Greater Danbury area. Have a favorite spot that's not on our list? Share with us!

DANBURY

Rogers Park Playground Spray Park, Lions Way/Memorial Drive

Summer hours are 11AM - 7PM daily. The spray-park and large playground are adjacent to Rogers Park with swings and other play equipment.

Lake Kenosia Park, Mill Plain to Kenosia Ave to Christopher Columbus Ave.

Spray Park hours 11AM - 6PM Monday - Sunday. A 25 acre park with benches, playground, spray park, four soccer fields (field use permit required from Park & Rec Office), non-motorized boating, and tables. No swimming allowed.

Highland Playground, Lake Avenue to Westville Avenue to Highland Avenue
Spray-park and playground open 11AM - 6PM beginning mid-June 

Candlewood Town Park, 36 Hayestown Rd. 
An 11 acre park with 200 yards of beach front for swimming and relaxing, benches, playground, and a concession stand. Open 12-6PM daily beginning May 25. Visit link above or call 203-797-4632 for rates.

BETHEL

Limekiln Swimming Association, Rte. 53

Filled with spring water and nestled hidden in the woods, the "Quarry" has been a member-owned and maintained property since 1962. Swimming classes are offered to members and their friends. Camping and BBQ areas can be requested for parties. Members are encouraged to participate in the annual spring cleanup. Please contact the Membership Director to join and enjoy the Quarry.

RIDGEFIELD 

Ridgefield Parks and Recreation Center Pool & Spray Bay,
195 Danbury Rd. 203-431-2755

Pool Open Year Round; Spray Bay open May 25 - Sept. 1, Monday - Friday 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10:00am to 5:45pm. Closed on Memorial Day and Independence Day. Families can enjoy an indoor pool and an outdoor Spray Bay. The indoor pool even has a water slide, tumble buckets for little kids in a zero entry area. The Spray Bay is a 2,800 square foot, zero-entry playground. Member and non-member rates are offered. Children under the age of two are admitted free and adults with paying children are free at the Spray Bay only. If your children are non-swimmers and they enter the pool, then you must accompany them in the pool and pay the drop-in rate of $12/person.

Martin Park Beach, 16 Great Pond Road, (203) 431-2755

Open May 25 - June 23: Mon. - Fri. 4:00-6:45pm, Sat. & Sun. 10:00-6:45 pm /  June 24 - August 25: Daily 10:00-6:45 pm / August 26 - September 2: Daily 3:00PM - 6:45PM / Labor Day Weekend: August 31-September 2: 10:00AM-6:45PM. Martin Park Beach is located at 16 Great Pond Road offers refreshing pond swimming and boating activities in a natural, spring fed pond. Lifeguard staffing is provided during operation hours from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Enjoy a sandy beach, Zoom Floom, Wibit Slide, water mat, and playground; play beach volleyball or rent a kayak, paddleboard or paddle boat

REDDING

Topstone Park Beach, 72 Topstone Rd. 

Open Weekends 11:00am-7:00pm from Memorial Day through June 14th. After June 14th the park will be open Weekdays 11:00am-7:00pm and Weekends 10:00am - 7:00pm. The beach will be closed August 30 - Sept. 1 due to the schools starting but will reopen for Labor Day Weekend from 11:00am - 7:00pm. Topstone is Redding’s 280-acre park with a picturesque lake and sandy beach used for swimming & kayaking, plus nature trails and even a beach for dogs. Season passes and daily gate rates available for both residents and non-residents. Swimming lessons also available.


BROOKFIELD

Candlewood Lake, 460 Candlewood Lake Road
Only open to Brookfield residents although they can bring a guest. It offers swimming, basketball, sand volleyball courts, restrooms, changing facilities, BBQ grills and picnic tables. Season passes are only sold at the Parks and Recreation office. Brookfield residents may also choose to pay the daily guest fee at the gate. If so, please be sure to bring your driver's license. HOURS: 10AM-6PM. Opening Day: 5/25. Memorial Day Weekend: 5/25—5/27. Weekends: 6/1 & 6/2, 6/8 & 6/9, 6/15 & 6/16. Daily: 6/19—9/2. Closing Day: 9/2

NEW MILFORD

Lynn Deming Park, 134 Candlewood Lake Road North, 860-355-6050  
They are open one half-hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset every day. Lifeguard Hours- 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM daily. Lifeguards are on duty to enforce park rules and regulations, but parents are ultimately responsible for the safety of their child. A park pass is required to gain access. Day Passes are available at Parks & Recreation office for residents and non-residents.

NEW FAIRFIELD

New Fairfield Town Park, 180 Rte. 39

Open daily mid-June through Labor Day. Residents are able to purchase a season pass for a nominal fee. Daily guest passes are also available. Children 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. The park offers restrooms, changing areas, an extended snack bar and a picnic area overlooking the water.

Squantz Pond State Park, 178 Shortwoods Rd. 

Open Memorial Day through Labor Day from 8AM-Sunset. Offers swimming, picnicking, hiking, boating, fishing, SCUBA diving as well as canoe and kayak rentals. Restrooms and boat launch also available. There are separate weekend/holiday and weekday parking fees for non-residents in effect daily from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day from 8:00 a.m to 6:30 p.m. at Squantz Pond State Park.

KENT

Lake Waramaug State Park, 30 Lake Waramaug Rd., New Preston

Open Memorial Day to Labor Day 8AM-Sunset. Offers swimming, picnicking, car-top boating, camping, fishing plus canoe/kayak rentals. Restrooms also available. There is a weekend/holiday parking fee for non-residents and a campsite fee at Lake Waramaug State Park.

LITCHFIELD

Mt. Tom State Park, Rte. 202 Litchfield

Open Memorial Day to Labor Day 8AM-Sunset. Offers swimming, hiking, picnicking, non-motor boating, fishing and SCUBA diving. A lookout tower, restrooms, change houses and concessions also available. Please note that Mount Tom has limited parking and may fill up quickly. When the parking area is full, or the park has reached capacity, the park will be closed to additional visitors. There are parking fees for non-residents at Mount Tom State Park.
