Visiting your local farmers' market is a not only a great way to support local farmers, but also a fun, interactive way to get children excited about eating healthy. As you walk around the market, encourage your children to ask the farmer's questions about his/her fresh produce and make it a point to learn the names of various fruits and vegetables they may have never seen before. Challenge yourselves to take home one or two new items home each week to try together as a family. You never know, you just might find a new favorite! Everyone loves local, fresh produce.
