The Ridgefield Suzuki School offers violin, viola and cello lessons and group classes in the Suzuki Method as well as early childhood music classes.   The Suzuki Method is a long-standing, internationally recognized approach to music education. The foundation of the Suzuki method is the belief that every child can learn.  "Any child who is properly trained can develop musical ability.  The potential of every child is unlimited,"  said Dr. Suzuki.  Children learn to play an instrument in the same way that they acquire language...through listening, imitation, positive feedback from their parent, repetition and a celebration of every success.  This leads to a thorough enjoyment of the learning process and an organic mastery of the skill.  Parents take an active role in the child’s music education, attending all lessons and group classes with them as well as being the child’s “home teacher.” Suzuki parents often cite the incredible bond they developed with their child as one of the things they love most about the method.  Children in the Suzuki method are encouraged to start their musical studies at a young age, usually between 3-5 years old.  This early start leads to a facility and mastery that is unparalleled.  Finally, children in the Suzuki method participate in weekly group classes, where they play their instrument along with their peers, as well as many performances throughout the year. Group classes provide the opportunity for children to learn from each other, be inspired by other children, learn how to play as a group and how to follow a leader.  Cooperation, encouragement, and good social behavior are taught organically.  Group classes provide parents with the opportunity to meet other families, swap ideas, and build a musical network.

The Ridgefield Suzuki School offers instruction in Violin, Viola and Cello for ages 4 through 18.  Families receive a weekly private lesson by a trained Suzuki teacher, a weekly group class, many performance opportunities as well as parent education and support.  The Ridgefield Suzuki School also offers early childhood classes for children from birth through age 6.  Both the Music Together class (age birth-5) and  the Meet The Instruments class (ages 4-6) provide a strong foundation in tonal and rhythmic development that students later build upon when they begin to study an instrument.

Classes are held at Ridgefield Academy, 223 W Mountain Rd, Ridgefield CT. For registration and more information, please visit www.RidgefieldSuzukiSchool.com
