Rising Starr Horse Rescue, located in Wilton, CT is committed to helping children, teens, and adults develop self confidence through riding. We offer an exciting and enriched learning environment for the mind, body, and soul. What better way to learn communication, work and developmental skills than by having fun?  Our riders are trained at a level often found only in Competitive show barns, but we teach at that level without the pressure. Kelly Stackpole, owner and trainer has 34 years experience training riders and horses.

We encourage teamwork while teaching independence. The result is amazing, remarkable confidence and the feeling of empowerment that comes from working with horses and learning to become an effective rider, partner and caregiver. We have riders of all ages, male and female. We welcome all levels and disciplines of riding, whether it be English which is our primary or Western. Our instructors individualize each rider's program to suit their personal goals. The first and foremost concern of Rising Starr Horse Rescue is the safety and happiness of each of our riders and horses. We offer many programs and are open all year long. Come visit us and experience horse ownership and friendship for yourself. Fully Insured.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Kelly Stackpole has been teaching riders and training horses professionally for more than thirty years. After more than two decades teaching and training at the national level, Kelly decided her true passion was to teach non-competitively so that she could guide both students and horse owners to become 100% involved in the process of horse ownership and as a result form a significant and bonded relationship with their horses.

Kelly started Rising Starr Horse Rescue as a way to give back to the animals she loves and to give all children a place where they can participate and express their own love of horses.

Business Review

My daughter has been riding at Rising Starr Horse Rescue for over 5 years. As a parent, I love that owner Kelly Stackpole emphasizes safety first. All of the instructors are excellent and take the time to ensure each rider has tacked up their horse properly before mounting and reinforce how to stay safe around other riders during group lessons. I love that my daughter is learning first-hand all that goes into caring for horses and running a barn, as Kelly and her team encourage students to prepare their own horse before lessons and untacking after lessons. My daughter knows her way around the barn from the tackroom to the wash stall. She loves spending time getting to know each and every horse she rides as she grooms and tacks them. She also enjoys being able to ride all different kinds of horses - different breeds, ages, and temperaments. She says it makes her a more well-rounded rider as she gets to know each horse's personality and learns how her communication with each and every horse is nuanced yet still consistent to what she's been taught. Rising Starr Horse Rescue is an all-around wonderful barn that is going to great lengths to save and re-home horses one rescue at a time. A place where your child will learn so much more than just how to ride.
