THE RIDGEFIELD SCHOOL OF DANCE is noted for its excellence and focus on technique, professional environment and commitment to small class size.
The dance curriculum serves both the pre-professional student and the recreational dancer in Classical Ballet and Pointe. The Jazz and Modern Programs, including Lyrical Dance, Contemporary, Musical Theatre and Tap, are designed to supplement the ballet program as well as offer options to the recreational dancer. Adult classes are also available.
The school presents two performances each year; THE NUTCRACKER BALLET in December and full-length classical ballets for the annual, year- end performance. Ballets in our repertoire include, COPPELIA, THE SLEEPING BEAUTY BALLET, CINDERELLA and LES SYLPHIDES and, in June 2015, an original ballet of ALICE IN WONDERLAND. Recent productions have also included selections from PAQUITA, SWAN LAKE and ROMEO & JULIET.
Summer programs include an ADVANCED and INTERMEDIATE BALLET INTENSIVES, Young Dancers' Summer Programs in July and Intermediate and Advanced JAZZ "BOOT CAMP" in August. These programs give dancers a chance to work on strengthening their technique in Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern & Theatre Dance.
Advanced students are encouraged to audition for summer programs throughout the country. Many have been accepted to the Joffrey and Bolshoi Intensive Summer Programs, Walnut Hill in Boston, Nutmeg Ballet in Torrington, CT, Steps Summer Program in New York City, The American Academy of Dance in Purchase, NY and the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Summer Intensive.
Ridgefield School of Dance students who have chosen to pursue dance as a career have been accepted into, and are performing with, prestigious college dance programs at Tisch School at NYU, Purchase College Conservatory of Dance, Purchase, NY and the Ohio State University Department of Dance.
