Winter Garden Ice Arena is a privately owned, nonexclusive ice arena, open to the entire community. Winter Garden offers recreational skating, figure skating, youth and adult hockey programs, and a host of special events and clinics. We are home to one of the largest youth programs in Connecticut. Our mission is to bring together the finest facilities, programs and people.Winter Garden management appreciates the support from all neighboring towns, and attempts to design programming which is accessible to everyone. In such small communities, we are fortunate to be able to share such a wonderful resource! Winter Garden Ice Arena offers a progression of programs for every level of skater.
FALL 2024 SKATING PROGRAMS
Ice Mice (Ages 3-6) - Weekly on Saturdays, Sept. 14 - Nov. 9
Ice Mice is designed to help preschool-age children develop the preliminary coordination and strength necessary to maneuver on skates. Classes are divided by ability, and each child progresses at his or her own rate. It is recommended that your child be at least three years old by the start of class to enroll.
Learn to Skate (Ages 5- Adult) - Weekly on Saturdays, Sept. 14 - Nov. 9
This fun, recreational program will concentrate on teaching beginners the basic skills and techniques of skating. More advanced skaters will continue to learn new skills and progress through the levels of US Figure Skating Association. Also ideal for the skater who needs to brush-up a bit. Includes one 60 minute session per week, consisting of 30 minute group lesson and 30 minutes of practice
FALL 2024 HOCKEY PROGRAMS
Rangers Learn to Play (Ages 5-10) - Weekly on Saturdays, Sept. 7.- Nov. 9
Instruction is provided by the NYR Hockey Development team in partnership with Winter Garden coaches and instructors.
Ridgefield Jaguars (Ages 4-15; Age Divisions by birth year) Nov. 1 - March 23
Ridgefield Jaguars are a recreational program designed to foster development of the person and hockey player while having fun. The Program emphasis is on improving skating skill, fundamental hockey skills, and on developing team play and sportsmanship. All players are given equal ice time regardless of ability. The program consists of an average of one practice and one game per week,
PUBIC SESSIONS
Public skating sessions are available on a per skate basis or by season pass. Our skating season begins in September and continues through the end of May. Public Skating Sessions take place on weekdays, starting in September, generally 10am-2pm. Beginning Thanksgiving weekend, sessions are available on Sundays, 12:50-2:10pm. Disco Skate in available on Friday nights from mid-March through the end of May. In order to best meet public demand, times will be expanded during holidays and Ridgefield school vacations. Check the schedule often. Organizations may call in advance for group rates.
