By Meghan Friedland, Publisher/Editor, Macaroni KID Greater Danbury, CT January 31, 2025

Have a child that likes to game competitively with friends? Help them find their team this Spring as Youth Club Teams for ages 7-17 are now forming at Affinity Esports in both their Newtown and Milford studios! Teams will be formed around several popular games such as Rocket League, Valorant, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Minecraft Bedwars, Fortnite, and Marvel Rivals. The season is 12 weeks long running from February 1st through May 1st (check out the full schedule breakdown here). For those interested in trying out, there are FREE trial dates being held this weekend, January 1-2 and next weekend, January 8-9, 2025. For youth players not quite ready for competition, there is a Practice Squad option, which offers skill-building and coaching to help prepare students to try out to join the main roster in the future.

Students on a Youth Club Team will receive a dedicated, expert coach to guide them through the season plus 40 hours of instruction which is a mix of training, matches and competition. Each student will also receive a discounted team jersey to represent their team in style! They'll have the opportunity to take part in a "Media Day" where the teams get their photos taken as well as a Banquet Celebration at the end of the season! Playing as part of a team will provide your child/teen an opportunity to build friendships through their shared passion for gaming as well as learn accountability and teamwork. Plus, they will gain valuable exposure to esports careers and industry insights along with information about future competitions.

Below is the schedule for the FREE Trial Dates which are designed to help give parents and their kids a feel for what it's like to play in the Affinity Esports competitive club team environment. You'll have the opportunity to consult with the coaches and staff to see if your child is ready to compete or if the Practice Squad is a better fit to enable them to build up their skills to compete in the future.
