Every weekend in October, visitors to the Danbury Railway Museum (120 White Street, Danbury) can board "The Husking Bee" for a ride out to their Pumpkin Patch! This is a classic, Danbury area seasonal family tradition! Don't miss the opportunity to go enjoy one of our area's most treasured historic museums -- especially if you have a train lover in your family!
After a brief ride through the railyard in a set of 1920's coaches pulled by a 1940's diesel locomotive, the train will pull up to a pumpkin patch where passengers will disembark. Guests will be treated to cookies and apple cider while kids select their own pumpkin (included in admission). Families will also enjoy photo opportunities and even a vintage tractor! Families will then re-board the train for a brief ride back through the railyard to the station/museum entrance. The ride is about 20 minutes, round trip.
NEW THIS YEAR:
Storytime Express
The 11:00AM trains on Saturdays feature a Storytime Express, where one of two short children's books will be read on board the train. Kids get a free copy of the book to take home!
- October 7th and 21st will feature Thomas and the Runaway Pumpkins
- October 14th and 28th will feature Tractor Mac-Harvest Time, written and illustrated by CT local, Billy Steers
Twilight Trains
Saturday evening trains depart at 6:30 PM, just in time for a twilight arrival at the patch! Passengers will each receive a prepackaged s'mores kit and will be able to roast marshmallows over our railroad campfire. Walk through our lantern-lit patch as you enjoy your s'more, apple cider, and cookies.
PRICING:
- Standard Tickets are $16 for everyone ages 2 and older (under 2 is free)
- Storytime Express Tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for kids (under 2 is free)
- Twilight trains are $22 for everyone ages 2 and older (under 2 is free)
Departures
Saturdays: October 7, 14, 21, 28
Sundays: October 8, 15, 22, 29
Trains leave at 11AM, 12PM, 1PM, 2PM and 3PM and 6:30PM (Twilight Train Saturdays only)
Note: Online reservations are suspended six hours before a scheduled departure time, but walk-ins are still welcome.
