From 9:30 to 11:00 am, enjoy a nature walk around RA's beautiful 42-acre campus, a musical themed activity, and a food science activity in RA’s Kitchen Lab. Plus, explore RA's state-of-the-art Outdoor Campus Center and Playspace! Perfect for Fall 2024 Kindergarten-Grade 4 Families!

Here are just a few exciting aspects about the K- Grade 4 Program at Ridgefield Academy that contribute to its warm, joyful environment!

Learner-Centered Approach to Education

With a low student/faculty ratio (every K-2 class has an assistant teacher, so the ratio is 9:1), RA faculty provides personalized attention to every student. Students are seen and known as curious individuals with vast capabilities, and their interests shape their learning experiences and drive the actions of educators. Students develop meaningful connections with the content, the skills being reinforced, and the mindsets being nurtured. Teachers help students advocate for themselves and develop a deep sense of who they are as people and students.

Feel Good Friday

Monthly fun themes and related activities for the lower school contribute to a warm, welcoming environment! Whether it is an outdoor lunch enjoying the beautiful view from West Mountain or the chance for a student to wear their favorite outfit to school, every Feel Good Friday brings something different and exciting. On every Feel Good Friday, students conduct a lemonade sale with proceeds supporting service-learning projects initiated by the students.

Service Learning

Students at RA participate in an active service learning program which empowers them to become thoughtful, reflective citizens at an early age. Community service activities take place both on campus (ie. Earth Day, students helped prepare plants to be sent to a local organization, removed invasive species on campus such as garlic mustard) and by partnering with local organizations such as Ridgefield Operation Animal Rescue.

K&8 Buddy Program

Ridgefield Academy has a very active and meaningful K&8 Buddy program, which is great for connectedness as a school, helping kindergarteners transition from preschool to RA and having role models at the school.
