Now that the school year is underway, you may want to consider adding a weekly extracurricular activity such as music lessons. This is a great way for your child to learn a new skill while making new friends who share a common interest. In addition, studies show that children who start instrument study as early as age 5 have increased memory and attention skills which can be extremely beneficial in the classroom. Have an older child participating in orchestra at school? One-on-one instrument lessons are a great way to supplement their learning.

The Suzuki Music School of Newtown offers a variety of year-round programs for all ages: Baby and Pre-School Music Classes for Ages 6 Weeks - 5 Years old as well as Instrumental Program for ages 4 and up, which includes Piano, Classical Guitar, Violin and Viola. Students are given the opportunity to perform and showcase their talents at multiple performances throughout the year and are backed by award winning teachers who share over 200 years of experience.

New this fall, The Suzuki Music School is offering a Saturday Strings Program for Beginners and Intermediate students ages 5+ of Violin, Viola and/or Cello. Beginner lessons are 30 minutes while the Intermediate is 45 minutes and can be scheduled between 10AM and 3PM on Saturdays. Lessons are taught by Ms. Emily Franz who studied at The Royal Academy of Music in London and Oberlin Conservatory. See Ms. Emily Franz' bio below and take a look at the video below to get a feel for the program!

"I couldn’t recommend the Suzuki music school enough. My daughter had never had any kind of musical background and she now has finished Book 1 of Suzuki violin. Her teacher, Julie, has been extremely patient, has given us excellent feedback and homework to work on and practice during the week. There are regular recitals throughout the year which gives us an extra incentive to practice. This is an overall awesome music school. Very happy we chose it for our daughter's violin lessons."  Kamla Woodard

About the Suzuki Philosophy:
The core principle of the Suzuki method is the ‘Mother Tongue’ aspect of the philosophy. Suzuki discovered that children could learn to play beautiful music the same way they learned to speak their native language. Given the proper training and environmental conditions, any child may develop a high level of ability.
