One of the many wonderful things about Bethel is its bustling downtown. My kids and I love to stroll down Greenwood Avenue, stopping in the various shops where we are always met with a smile. We've gotten to know many of the store owners through the years so often we'll linger and chit chat for a while. Each shop has its own personality, area of specialty and offerings and we strive to frequent them often. Most of all, it feels great knowing that I'm teaching my kids the importance of supporting our local businesses. Sure, it might be easier to drive over to Target for all the things you need in one place, but by shopping small, we are helping the local store owner and employees' families while contributing to the health of our local economy. Plus, there are unique items you can find shopping small that you just won't find in the big box stores!
This Saturday, July 15th from 11AM-4PM, head downtown for Bethel's Summer Shop & Stroll. All up and down Greenwood Avenue will have vendors and participating stores will have sidewalk sales or specials inside. PT Barnum Square will have live music and over at the Bethel Library Lawn, Macaroni KID has worked with the town to create a Family Fun Zone. Activities include music/dancing, oversized connect four, lawn tic tac toe, facepainting by Erika (12-3), balloon twisting with Kids Party Mascots (12-3), temporary tattoos and more!
