The Newtown Community Center has announced its lineup of Summer Camp programs for 2023! There is a wide variety of camps for children of all ages from swimming and science to art, musical theater and circus. See a summary of offerings below and then view the 2023 summer brochure with full descriptions, dates and pricing for all programs.

A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING
Summer Bash (Grades K-6); Weekly 6/12 - 8/18
Each week has a different theme with activities that include hours of outdoor playtime, swimming and arts and crafts. Before and after-care available.
Tiny Campers (Ages 3-5); Weekly June 26-August 17
Traditional camp games, music, arts and crafts, swimming, hiking, and story time fun. Campers will follow a simple daily rhythm that builds a sense of trust and ease while making new friends and learning new skills. This is a 4-day, half-day camp with weekly themes.
Splash, Explore & More (Ages 7-9); July 17-20
Daily trips to the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary to explore the nature world using tools and techniques of artists and scientists. Discover the connections between art and science. Then come back to the NCC for some splash time in the pool.
SWIMMING
Mermaid Camp (Ages 6-11); July 31-August 3 and August 14-17
Learn how to swim as gracefully as a mermaid under the sea! This 4-day camp will include treasure hunts in the pool and mermaid themed arts and crafts in our art studio! Tails provided for each day or you can bring your own. Must have swimming ability of a level 4 swimmer.
Tiny Tots Swim Camp (Ages 3-5); July 17-20 & July 31-August 3
Refine swim skills and enhance learning in this 1/2-day camp. Beginner swimmers will focus on water safety skills and foundation swim skills. Includes 45 minutes of swim instruction each day along with 30 minutes of free swim and other preschool based activities.
THE ART OF COOKING
Kids in the Kitchen (Ages 8-12); August 7-11
Kids will create some fun and healthy recipes while also exploring how to utilize food as art. Each camper will go home with a recipe, a dish that your child has mastered, and a food related art project!
Yummy Art Camp (Ages 6-12); July 17-21
From cupcake design to mosaics with food to chocolate syrup painting, this 1/2 day camp is all about the wonderful and wacky world of food art! Learn about food artists, play foodie games and create incredible edibles! (No peanut or peanut oils will be used).
ART & TECHNOLOGY
Joy of Art (Ages 5-10); July 10-14 and July 24-28
Your child will explore "The Joy of Disney" with Joy Hoffman. Enjoy a variety of Disney movie classics while combining arts and crafts, watercolors, acrylics and pastels to create beautiful paintings around each movie theme daily. Includes a student art show party on the last day.
Great Big Messy Art and Slime Camp (Ages 3-5); June 26-30
Everything about this 1/2 day camp is messy, gooey and slimy. We will have spaghetti designs, paint the fizzes and pops, along with messy portraits that match our messy faces! The week will end with SLIME DAY!
Creative Coding (Ages 8-12); July 31-August 4 & August 7-11
Create interactive games, stories and animations with Scratch, a visual coding platform. Aspiring artists will discover the magic of coding in this fun and easy-to-learn web-based application. No previous coding experience required.
2D Character Animation (Ages 8-12); July 31 - August 4, August 7-11
Beginners and intermediate students will learn to create and animate 2D anime and cartoon characters using tablets, sketchbooks and computers. The class will work individually and in teams to create a short film of their animated characters.
DANCE
Storybook Ballet Camp (Ages 3-4); July 17-21
Every day of this dance camp focuses on a different ballet: Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Frozen, Peter and the Wolf and Swan Lake! Each day there will be a dance class, art and craft projects related to the ballet of the day along with snack and story time.
NATURE CAMPS
Nature Art Camp (Ages 5-11); August 15-19
Use art as a medium to creativity by using items found within the local ecosystem. Paritipcate in organized art projects such as weaving natural materials into crowns, magic wands, journey sticks, picture frams, puppets, jewelry and more. Create natural dyes, collages, shadow drawings, leaf rubbings and more.
Woodlands Explorers Camp (Ages 5-11); August 21-25
Children will learn about soil, water, vegetation, fungi, mini beasts, woodland creatives and micro-organisms through games, art projects and storytelling.

The Newtown Community Center is a multi-generational hub that enhances our community by promoting social interaction, health and wellness, creative opportunities, and personal growth. The Center includes a community recreational pool and flexible modular community rooms (available for rent).
