Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center: Free Admission on March 5

First Sundays - A free, monthly family program

By Meghan Friedland, Publisher/Editor, Macaroni KID Greater Danbury, CT March 3, 2023

Make Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center (KTM&HC) part of your weekend with our free monthly family-friendly program, First Sunday, on March 5. Free site admission from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., including fun activities in the Garden House from 1 to 4 p.m.

In March, activities in the Garden House are all about stamping and planting. Design and create hand-stamped linen and prepare snap pea seeds for planting: all for good luck! These activities, inspired by St. Patrick's Day and Irish traditions, also link to our site-specific history, as many of the individuals who worked for the Gilbert family during the 20th century were Irish Americans. Drop in any time between 1 and 4 p.m. to participate in the activity, led by KTM&HC Director of Education Melissa Houston. Don't miss out on a great opportunity to be creative with friends, family, and KTM&HC staff.

Registration is not required. Start your visit at the Visitor Center, where all individuals will receive tickets for free site admission, sign up for a tour, and plan when to participate in activities at the Garden House.

First Sundays are a fantastic new program series in 2023, funded by a generous grant from M&T Bank. On the first Sunday of each month, visitors can head to our museum for free site admission, which includes a tour of our historic tavern museum and access to our interactive exhibit Cheers to 250 Years!, History Workshop in the carriage barn, and beautiful grounds. Free site admission also includes special hands-on activities and crafts in the historic Garden House from 1 to 4 p.m.

For more information about these and other events – like our popular Keeler Kids summer programming, which is open for registration! – head to www.keelertavernmuseum.org/events.
