Summer Camp Spotlight: The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum

By Meghan Friedland, Editor/Publisher Macaroni Kid Greater Danbury, CT April 14, 2022

The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, located at 258 Main Street in Ridgefield is now enrolling for Camp Aldrich! Camp Aldrich is a full-day, week-long arts experience with Museum educators and practicing artists. Each week is unique—inspired by the Museum’s exhibition 52 Artists: A Feminist Milestone -- and tailored to specific age groups, with in-gallery learning and art-making. Campers will explore the Museum's galleries with teaching artists and educators, create dynamic works of art, move their bodies through mindful activities and games, discover art-making techniques, and build friendships along the way!

New activities will be shared every week for returning campers. Caregivers will receive personalized emails from the Camp Aldrich team sharing what their child learned. The experience will culminate on Friday evenings with a Camper Art Show of their creative projects for family and friends.

Founded by art collector and fashion designer Larry Aldrich in 1964, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is one of the oldest contemporary art museums in the United States. The Museum is one of the few independent, non-collecting institutions in the country and the only museum in Connecticut solely dedicated to the presentation of contemporary art. The Museum is located on Main Street in historic downtown Ridgefield, Connecticut an hour and a half north of New York City. The campus includes a two-acre Sculpture Garden and is walking distance from a Revolutionary War battlefield, and many restaurants and shops.  Learn more at https://thealdrich.org/.
