Weekends in February: Take An Outdoor Guided Walking Tour

Keeler Tavern Museum and History Center

Get a new perspective on our site stories! After being closed in January for routine museum maintenance and collections care, Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center (KTM&HC) is excited to offer outdoor guided walking tours every weekend in February. Visitors will learn about the lives of some of our former site residents on the "Highlights Tour," which takes place exclusively outside the museum building.

Interpreters will lead visitors around parts of our beautiful grounds, sharing stories - spanning hundreds of years - about individuals who lived on our site and contributed to our community. Learn about some of the practices of the Indigenous peoples who originally stewarded the land, hear how Timothy and Esther Keeler experienced the Battle of Ridgefield during the American Revolution, get insight into the complicated relationship between 19th-century residents Phillis Dubois and Anna Marie Resseguie, and see how the Gilbert family shaped the site to look much as it does today. In the words of one recent visitor who left a review on our Facebook page, the “Highlights” tour is an “excellent outdoor tour given by [an] enthusiastic, knowledgeable docent . . . wonderful CT history.”

KTM&HC is open from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays throughout February, and tours go out at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. Visitors should redeem or purchase their tickets inside the Visitor Center, and then proceed outside to the patio for the start of the tour. We recommend purchasing tickets online in advance at https://ktmhc.ticketleap.com/, $8 for adults and $5 for children. There is a maximum of eight people per tour, and masks are mandatory.
