Get ready because one of Bethel's best family traditions is back! Organized by the Bethel Chamber of Commerce, Trick-or-Treat Street will be happening this year on Saturday, October 30th from 1pm-3pm! If you haven't been to this fun, family-friendly event, you are in for a real treat --- pun intended! Children can walk along Greenwood Avenue and stop in at participating downtown Bethel businesses to trick-or-treat. Then at 3PM, families head over to the Bethel Municipal Center lawn for the costume contest with prizes donated by local businesses.
My family has participated in Trick-or-Treat Street ever since my oldest daughter (now 12) was just a year old. It's a great way to celebrate Halloween as you are bound to bump into neighbors and friends along the route which adds to the fun. Keep in mind that because Greenwood Avenue/Rte. 302 is a state road, it is open to traffic during this event.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:
- Look for signs in the windows so you know which businesses are participating
- Don't miss the businesses across the railroad tracks!
- Any businesses that wish to participate from other areas of Bethel e.g. Stony Hill area will be handing out treats at their booths/tables on the Municipal Center Lawn
- The costume contest is lots of fun with great prizes, so don't be late! Head over at least 10-15 minutes prior to the start of the contest (3PM)
- The sidewalks can get a bit crowded at times, so best to keep children in arm's reach and only cross at the marked crosswalks
- Bring water -- my kids always get thirsty especially if they eat candy as they walk around
- Event is rain or shine!
Be safe and have fun!
