By Meghan Friedland, Editor/Publisher Macaroni Kid Greater Danbury, CT July 1, 2021

Celebrate Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness this Fourth of July at KTM&HC with tours, music, games, and primary source documents!

The museum will be operating at its regular hours of 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering Museum and Walking Tours every hour on the half hour where visitors can learn how former residents of the site lived their lives, sought liberty, and pursued happiness. Ticket holders will also have exclusive access to new exhibits in the Carriage Barn: "A Land of Opportunity? Community Building in 19th Century Ridgefield," which showcases Joseph Hartmann's glass plate photography; and a film about our award-winning #HandsOnHistory exhibit, "It Takes a Village." The Museum Shop will be open from 12 to 3 p.m.

There will be colonial-era games for those who are young and young at heart on the lawn all day long. There will also be a Membership tent staffed by representatives from the museum ready to share details about the perks available with various levels of Membership to KTM&HC (free site admission! NARM membership, with discounted and free access to museums nationwide! exclusive tours of the archives with our curators!).

From 12 to 2 p.m., join The Angry O'Haras - one of KTM&HC's favorite local bands - on the Visitor Center patio under the blue tent for progressive bluegrass music. Bring your own chairs or blankets. Also on the patio: don't miss the annual Dramatic Reading of the Declaration of Independence at 2 p.m.: a KTM&HC tradition and a powerful reminder of the words that helped shape, and continue to shape, our national identity.
