Movies are back in a big way at The Ridgefield Playhouse!  Now is the chance for your kids to see their favorite animated films the way they were meant to be seen - on the big screen!  Screenings are safe and socially distanced in a single screen, 500-seat theater at The Ridgefield Playhouse!  Upcoming movies include Shrek 2 on April 29, The Secret Life of Pets on May 6, The Croods on May 14 and Minions on May 30.  Come back to the movies – we’ll have the popcorn popping!  The films are part of the Bruce Bennett Nissan Family Series and Cohen and Wolf, P.C. Movie Series.

Reserve your seats for Shrek 2 on Thursday, April 29 at 4pm and 7pm.  After returning from their honeymoon and showing home movies to their friends, Shrek and Fiona learn that her parents have heard that she has married her true love and wish to invite him to their kingdom, called Far Far Away. The catch is: Fiona’s parents are unaware of the curse that struck their daughter and have assumed she married Prince Charming, not a 700-pound ogre with horrible hygiene and a talking donkey pal.

Unleash an afternoon of fun with The Secret Life of Pets on Thursday, May 6 at 4pm & 7pm!  Max is a spoiled terrier who enjoys a comfortable life in a New York building until his owner adopts Duke, a giant and unruly canine. During their walk outside, they encounter a group of ferocious alley cats and wind up in a truck that’s bound for the pound. Luckily, a rebellious bunny named Snowball swoops in to save the doggy duo from captivity. In exchange, Snowball demands that Max and Duke join his gang of abandoned pets on a mission against the humans who’ve done them wrong.

Get ready for rock solid entertainment with when prehistoric family The Croods returns to the screen on Friday, May 14 at 4pm and 7pm.  The Croods live in a particularly dangerous moment in time. Patriarch Grug (Nicolas Cage), his mate, Ugga (Catherine Keener), teenage daughter Eep (Emma Stone), son Thunk (Clark Duke) and feisty Gran (Cloris Leachman) gather food by day and huddle together in a cave at night. When a more evolved caveman named Guy (Ryan Reynolds) arrives on the scene, Grug is distrustful, but it soon becomes apparent that Guy is correct about the impending destruction of their world.

They’re back!  Evolving from single-celled yellow organisms at the dawn of time, Minions live to serve, but find themselves working for a continual series of unsuccessful masters, from T. Rex to Napoleon. See Minions on the big screen Sunday, May 30 at 1pm & 4pm. Without a master to grovel for, the Minions fall into a deep depression. But one minion, Kevin, has a plan; accompanied by his pals Stuart and Bob, Kevin sets forth to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow. Their search leads them to Scarlet Overkill, the world’s first-ever super-villainess.
