Music Together of Greater Danbury: Heading Outdoors for Spring!

By Meghan Friedland, Editor/Publisher Macaroni Kid Danbury-Bethel-Ridgefield, CT April 2, 2021

Music Together of Greater Danbury is heading outside for classes this Spring! Throughout the pandemic, classes have been held online. While online classes are still an option (keep reading), families looking to provide an in-person music class experience will be excited to learn of this new option!

The outdoor classes will be held at Brookfield Town Hall (100 Pocono Rd.) in front of the band shell. Current guidelines allow families to be mask-free once each family gets to their designated spot on the lawn. Plastic bins of play-along instruments and props will be spaced out on the grounds. Everything will be used only once and thoroughly cleaned and disinfected before each class. If you are more comfortable bringing your own items to use, that's OK too. Check out the video tour of the space below by Don O'Keefe, Director Music Together of Greater Danbury!

The Spring Semester will feature the updated Triangle Songs Collection and will start April 27th. Classes are suited for children Birth to Age 5 but the entire family is encouraged to participate. Music Together classes build on your child's natural enthusiasm for music and movement and will provide your child with the basic musical skills needed to enjoy school and social musical activities, and to study an instrument should he or she choose to do so.

Music Together Online will provide access to the same high-quality music and movement curriculum loved by millions of families and teachers around the world—from home! During each live/interactive class, your favorite teachers from Music Together Greater Danbury will lead activities for you and your whole family to sing, play, and jam along to. When you enroll, you will receive a code to download your music through the award-winning Hello Everybody app, an invitation to a private Facebook Group and page on the Family Portal, where musical inspiration and activities to try at home will be shared, and where you can connect with other enrolled parents. You will also receive hard copies of the Family Materials.

Rhythm Kids Online is for kids K-2 and will feature the Jaguar Song Collection this Spring. Rhythm Kids is an exciting music, movement, and drumming class. Children integrate and assimilate rhythm into their lives, as they learn multicultural drumming patterns, develop new repertoire on various percussion instruments, explore movement and dance while singing songs, play games based on music and drumming and have fun with a host of rhythm activities. Rhythm Kids follows through on the Music Together® vision to help children complete the pathway of early childhood music development from birth through age 8. As part of the RhythmKids experience, children and their grownups can enjoy drumming play and practice sessions at home with the help of online play-along videos featuring Rhythm Kids creator Tom Foote. New children to the program receive a FREE Djembe Drum worth $68!
