Help the Danbury Westerners Rally for Rogers Park

By Jon Pitser, President, Danbury Westerners March 25, 2021

Earlier this month, the Danbury Westerners launched the “Rally for Rogers Park” crowdfunding campaign with the goal of raising $35,000 to complete phase two of the Rogers Park baseball field renovation project.

In 2020, the City of Danbury resurfaced the playing field and the Danbury Westerners completed phase one of the public park makeover that included:

●      10-foot black chain link fence installed down the baselines for increased fan safety

●      Black chain link fencing installed in front of the dugouts

●      20-foot black chain link backstop spanning dugout to dugout

●      Relocation of the visitor bullpen with upgraded backstops and new mounds

To further give back to our City, improve spectator safety and enhance the quality of the fan experience this “Rally for Rogers Park” crowdfunding campaign will finance phase two of the field improvements that will culminate in the installation of a 10 inning LED scoreboard in left center field. Additionally, phase two will replace the 6-foot left field fencing with 16-foot fencing, relocate the home bullpen to the left field out of bounds area, and remake the existing home bullpen into a suitable batting cage for community baseball players of all ages.

With your help these much needed and overdue improvements will increase safety for both players and spectators. Your hometown Westerners are proud to call Rogers Park home for 22 evenings every summer season, but the field is mostly occupied for games and practices by Danbury’s Babe Ruth Baseball program, American Legion Post 60 Baseball program, The Housatonic League Baseball League as well as many others.

All who play and practice at Rogers Park will benefit from your generosity for generations to come so let’s “Rally for Rogers Park!” To donate, go to www.danburywesterners.com and click on the Rally for Rogers Park icon which will link you to our GoFundMe. All donations are tax deductible.
