GREEN SCREEN FUN

A Grand Opening at #5 Danbury Road in Ridgefield on Saturday November 7th is an event featuring green screen recording fun and enrollment information at Play a Part LLC.

Play a Part LLC is the brainchild of Director Missy Hanlon, a veteran theater instructor who is perhaps best known for the education programs she developed at The Ridgefield Theater Barn over the past fifteen years. Her Play a Part studio brings traditional acting classes and performing events to Ridgefield as seen through a digital media lens.

The early 2020 closures of performance spaces and theater-arts education challenged students and their teachers to get creative.

“Social media became our new playgrounds! Video apps were our new toolboxes!” enthuses Ms. Hanlon, “To our credit, by embracing digital performance - we grew. The theater community at every level chose to master skills on platforms that few of us had ever incorporated into our craft. At the same time, theater temporarily lost one of its most important aspects: live, interpersonal interaction.”

The Play a Part studio provides access for displaced theater students to quality instruction and a hub to reconnect with their community of peers.

COLLABORATION WITH THE PROSPECTOR THEATER

Play a Part addresses the immediate need to provide classes in a Connecticut Phase III compliant environment. Performances produced by Play a Part LLC are digital products with many safety-conscious ways to view - including live screenings of Play a Part productions at the Prospector Theater.  Play a Part LLC is collaborating with the Ridgefield non-profit as safety rules allow, with ticket proceeds benefiting the Prospector mission. Once safety restrictions due to Covid19 lift, opportunities to include live performance at the Prospector Theater will be a part of the Play a Part model."
