To celebrate its 20th birthday this March, Stepping Stones Museum for Children in Norwalk has a series of incredible "birthday" celebration experiences planned for its entire anniversary month.  March will be magnificent as the award-winning children’s museum marks this special milestone by pulling the stops to keep the party going daily all month long, including two special events taking place on Saturday, March 7 and Saturday, March 21, respectively.

JOIN IN THE CELEBRATION

Stepping Stones invites you to help celebrate 20 years of serving this community. On Saturday, March 7, the museum is hosting a community celebration and all are invited.  Museum storytellers Bird, BooZoo™ and friends will host the BEST BIRTHDAY PARTY EVER! from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, jam-packed with live entertainment, learning-inspired games and experiences, cupcakes, special birthday guests, visits from our friends at the Beardsley Zoo and The Maritime Aquarium, live radio remotes from Star 99 and WEBE 108, a noon cake-cutting ceremony with museum mascot BooZoo™ and so much more. And here is the best part, admission is FREE all day!

Children may be the museum’s primary constituency, but adults just want to have fun, too!  Stepping Stones is hosting You Bring The Heart an adults-only fund and friend-raising party on Saturday, March 21, from 7:00 – 10:00 pm.  Attendees will enjoy an entertainment-packed evening for grown-ups full of engaging opportunities to “be a kid again,” including chemistry-inspired specialty drinks, retro games and a cupcake decoration station. YOU bring the heart – Stepping Stones will bring the happy!  Tickets are available now and cost $40 per person for members and $60 per person for non-members.  Providing important support for You Bring The Heart are Discovery Sponsors Emcor and Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital and Community Sponsors BMW of Darien, Volckert van Reesema, Mid Ocean Marine LLC and William J. Fessler Family Dentistry. For more information about both events or to purchase tickets to You Bring The Heart, visit www.steppingstonesmuseum.org/20.

“In its 20 years of serving this region, our award-winning museum has reached nearly 7 million people,” said Rhonda Kiest, President and Chief Executive Officer. “With the help of members, educators and community partners, we’ve been able to provide exceptional, playful learning opportunities for children that foster an understanding and appreciation of the world. As we embark on this new decade filled with opportunities to generate lasting impact for the children and families we serve, we’re excited to invite our community to join our celebration and share why Stepping Stones means so much to them.”

ADD YOUR VOICE TO THE CELEBRATION

Stepping Stones Museum for Children prides itself on being responsive to the interests and needs of its community.  As part of this milestone birthday celebration, the museum invites museum members, friends and fans to record a video sharing their favorite Stepping Stones stories, photos, and happy birthday wishes on social media using the hashtag #MySteppingStones.

Since February 10, weekly winners from the #MySteppingStones submissions have been selected to receive a $20 food voucher to redeem in the museum’s Healthyville® Cafe. On March 7, three lucky winners will be selected from the submitted videos to receive a complimentary Family Plus membership worth $210. Favorite videos are also being shared on the Stepping Stones website, and inside the museum.

When Stepping Stones first opened its doors in 2000, it answered a call from the community to create a world-class children’s museum in the region for all children to learn and grow. Through its Open Arms accessibility initiative, children of all backgrounds and abilities can access brain-building, play-based learning opportunities at Stepping Stones. In 2020, the museum plans to serve 70,000 children and families through Open Arms programs.
