REVIEW: Main Street Adventures Indoor Playground in Newtown

Macaroni Kid Readers Save $1 on Drop-in Play!

By Meghan Friedland, Publisher/Editor, Macaroni Kid Danbury-Bethel-Ridgefield, CT June 26, 2019

I recently had been given the opportunity to bring my kids (ages 10 and 6 1/2) to play and explore at Main Street Adventures in Newtown. They are located at 125B Main Street South (Rte. 25) in the Highland Plaza shopping center. This is a relatively new indoor play space, having just opened this past December. We stayed for an hour and boy did they have fun! The play space is divided into two areas: one for ages 3 and under and one for ages 4-12. Given my kids ages they stayed in the large play scape enclosure designed for ages 4-12. Check out the video below for an overview and to see the kids having fun!

My ten-year-old was a bit tall to stand fully inside the enclosed playscape, but she still had lots of fun exploring with her younger sister. Her favorite areas were the V-shaped bungee seats that you can bounce on and the stand-on spinning disc. My six-year-old made a friend her age while we were there and had a blast crawling through the tunnel and going down the slides with him.

Half-way through playtime, the girls got very thirsty. I had forgotten to bring their water bottles - but owner Kayla came to our rescue when she pointed out that they have a mini snack bar offering water, Pirate's Booty, Go Go Squeeze applesauces and Natures's Bakery Fig Bars. Each item was only $1 (cash; $1.50 with card). She mentioned that you are also welcome to bring your own snacks/lunch etc. Eating is permitted in the party room and of course not inside the play areas.

After the hour was almost up, it took several minutes of reminders and convincing to get them to agree to leave -- they were having so much fun! In our experience, an hour of play time is good for older kids (ages 10-12) but I think the younger ones could definitely play much longer. This is where a daily pass would be beneficial (and more cost-efficient; see below).

There are several ways to play at Main Street Adventures:
