REVIEW: Sprout Organic Foods

Baby Brunch Sponsor 2017

When I was pregnant with my first daughter (now age seven), I was determined to make my own organic baby food from scratch. I had read up on it, purchased recipe books and even registered for a fancy machine that could both steam and puree! I purchased the little plastic food storage containers that locked together when stacked. I was prepared as any new, expectant mom could be. When my daughter became of age to start solids, I really had fun making food at home for her to try. I steamed and pureed carrots, butternut squash, beans, broccoli, peas, sweet potatoes, etc. It got really fun when I’d come up with fun combinations of flavors like peas and carrots or apples, cinnamon and sweet potatoes. I had a system and it worked great…when we stayed home. However as we became more mobile I quickly realized that making and packing homemade baby food for a meal out, family gathering in another state or even a weekend away became more cumbersome and a bit of a chore. But, determined, I pressed on, bringing those containers with me to the mall, to parties, etc. I even packed frozen food containers on ice to put in the fridge at my destination for a weekend away.

Fast forward to my second daughter’s arrival. When it came time for her to start solids, I dusted off that baby food making machine and was ready for round two. While I did use it for the first few months, I began to realize that with two kiddos to feed, meal preparation for my family was becoming more challenging and I had less time to do it. And with my older daughter starting activities like swimming lessons and soccer, I was out and about with the baby so often that it became nearly impossible to always have the homemade food on-hand. It was at this time that I first tried the baby food in pouches. My daughter really loved them and I loved the convenience of her being able to feed herself as well as being able to keep them in my baby bag for whenever we’d need them.

When I received the shipment of baby food and snack items from Sprout in preparation for our 3rd Annual Baby Brunch last month, I was so excited to share this same story about my experience feeding my daughters with the moms in attendance. I was excited to tell them - just BUY the pouches! They will save your sanity! If you want to make your own baby food - that’s great! I will never say don’t do it…because I really did enjoy the experience. However it’s also great to know that Sprout is a wonderful option too as it’s made with organic, non-GMO, whole foods without preservatives or concentrates.

Did you know that Sprout actually invented the very first baby food in a pouch?
Sprout makes wholesome, organic baby food products including pouches and toddler snacks. Recipes feature tasty combinations of whole fruits, vegetables, and grains that let the amazing taste of the organic ingredients shine through, without the need for additives, fillers, thickeners, or preservatives.

Sprout also makes snacks including the first quinoa based puff and Curlz, the first plant-powered snack for toddlers, made from organic chickpeas and lentils. All of their snacks maintain freshness with organic rosemary instead of the artificial preservatives used by other brands, so you know they're clean through and through.

My four year old tried the Sprout Smash pouches (which are geared toward all members of the family) and absolutely LOVED them. She particularly liked the Amazin’ Apple Raisin variety. So I plan to keep the pantry stocked with some of these and taking them when on-the-go.

What did the Baby Brunch attendees think about Sprout?
Attendees unanimously rated Sprout either a 4 or 5 on a scale of 1 to 5.
“My son finally eats pouches!”
“Sprout products are the only pouch my one-year-old still eats”
“We use them often. I like that they are healthy and not too expensive”
“My baby tried them and like them. I love their organic and pure ingredients.”
“I love that they are organic with no fillers!”
“So convenient!”
