REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: The Gazillion Bubble Show, NYC

Jam-packed with professional bubble artistry and magic, unlike anything you've ever seen!

By Meghan Friedland, Editor/Publisher of Macaroni Kid Danbury-Bethel-Ridgefield December 17, 2015
I recently had the opportunity to take my family to New York City to see The Gazillion Bubble Show. What a fun experience! My kids (ages 6 and 3), my husband and I were on the edge of our seats the entire time. If you are looking for something to do during a visit to NYC this holiday season or gathering fun, family day-trip ideas to cure those winter doldrums come January, consider getting tickets to this memorable show!

Around 11AM on a Saturday, we stepped off the noisy streets of New York City and
into an interactive bubble world complete with bubble magic and lasers/lighting effects. Created by the Yang family (parents Ana and Fan, brother Jano and son Deni), the Gazillion Bubble Show is jam-packed with professional bubble artistry and magic -- unlike anything we'd ever seen before.

Our particular show
featured Fan's son, Deni Yang. Having done no research on the performers prior to attending the show, I especially enjoyed Deni's personal video montage introduction and heartfelt storytelling throughout.
We learned that he followed in his parents' footsteps and began entertaining with bubbles at the young age of 4! His passion for his unique artistic talent and spreading happiness is as transparent on stage as the amazing bubbles he creates. My kids loved how Deni created bubbles in all sizes, shapes and colors as well as when the bubbles floated out into the audience since they could pop them! There's also a part of the show when he invited kids from the audience up on stage and gave them prizes for participating.

If you go, here are some helpful tips to keep in mind:
  • Be sure to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to showtime so that you can get your seats and take advantage of the short line to get your family picture taken inside a giant bubble! The lines are much longer after the show and this is a very cool experience and souvenir not to be skipped!
  • Be prepared for employees walking around selling candy before the show. Have cash on hand or bring your own snacks.
  • Regarding food - the theater is on W. 50th St. near lots of restaurants for grabbing a bite to eat before/after the show. It's also directly crosstown from Rockefeller Center (if you want to see the Tree while it's up) and not far from Times Square. More on location.
  • Bubbles do reach the audience at various points throughout the show. So if your child gets frustrated at first if only those in the front few rows get to pop those first few that float out, don't worry - more are coming! And the finale? I can't say much more as I don't want to give it away! Just WOW.
  • The bright laser lights and loud music were amazing and a big hit with my 6-year-old! However my 3-year-old is more sensitive and wanted to hide in my coat and cover her ears for those parts. So if you have a child with sensory issues, you may want to bring sunglasses or sound-reducing headphones to have on hand just in case the light and/or sound bothers them.
  • There is a little pop-up gift shop outside the theater to buy bubbles. Reasonably priced and a range of options for different budgets. We bought the large container of bubble solution that Deni featured on stage that came with a wand with multiple circles. We played outside with it last weekend and it makes a TON of bubbles and entertained the kids for a long time. Worth every penny!
