It's beginning to look a lot like Autumn!

Editor's Note

September 15, 2011

I have always been, and always will be an Autumn girl. I love everything about it – the cool, crisp weather, the foliage, apple picking, Harvest festivals, baking, you name it. I always loved fall semesters at school, I got married in the fall, and I even wrote a little song for my daughter called, “It’s beginning to look a lot like Autumn” which I admittedly sing to her no matter what season it is! Autumn doesn't officially start until September 23, though there are many fall activities already on the calendar including these fun events happening in Bethel this weekend:

Bethel Downtown Harvest Festival. Sat 10-5; Sun 11-4. Enjoy sidewalk sales, raffles, vendors, a craft fair and more. Be sure to stop by our Macaroni Kid table in PT Barnum Square for a free craft activity for the kids! Plus, enter our raffle for a chance to win a family 4-pack of tickets to ride a train to the pumpkin patch at the Danbury Railway Museum.

Apple picking at Blue Jay Orchards is in full swing with Empire, Gala and Cortland ripe starting this weekend. The 12-14lb. bags are $15. Also starting this weekend, scenic wagon rides are available 10a.m to 5p.m.; $2 per person.

Oktoberfest at Old Heidelberg. This weekend marks the second of three weekends celebrating Oktoberfest. The German restaurant will offer  entertainment for kids, as well as music, beer and German food specials for parents.

There’s so much more going on this week in the Greater Danbury area, including fall registration for Library events, as well as the Bethel Parks & Recreation activities so you’ll want to check out the full calendar and use the “My Macaroni” feature to save your favorites for retrieving later!

Finally, if you are up for a drive to Springfield, MA, check out New England’s fair, The Big E! which runs Sept. 16 – Oct. 2. from 10AM – 10PM. Macaroni Kid Danbury-Bethel will be there along with fellow Publisher Moms from New England this Monday and Tuesday afternoon, so stop by and say hello! Also, the Bethel Senior Center is sponsoring a bus ride to the event on September 27th. All ages welcome. To register: 203-792-3048. Fee $38.

Enjoy this cool, fall-like weather everyone!
